A First for Everything

"...I think that the students will be surprised that it’s a girl drumming, ..."
Friday 6 July 2018, should be noted in the Leabank Primary School Record books as a day the first female drummer performed in front of a large school assembly. Jordyn Tukukino had started out as the main keyboardist for the school band but has now shifted her attention to the drums. Amazingly, she was given the task four days ago (Tuesday 2 July) and has stepped out of her comfort zone to meet it head-on.
When asked, for Jordyn’s thoughts, she replied “I feel nervous but I’m happy doing it with the school band, I was shocked and worried when Mr Ekepati asked me to play the drums at the end of term assembly. I think that the students will be surprised that it’s a girl drumming, I think I will be good because I am learning from the best (Daniel Papalii / Mr Ekepati).”
I look forward to this week’s memorable occasion.
